BBCi Red Button Consumer Guide

999 created a consumer guide for BBCi, that explained and showcased what lies behind the red button on a TV remote control. Viewers received this guide when responding to the call to action of the corporation's supporting TV campaign.

The guide motivated those viewers with Digital TV to interact and press their red button to discover what they'd been missing from their BBC TV experience. It aimed to build confidence amongst those who were wary of pressing red and those who had tried in the past but never returned to the service. By championing the ease, accessibility and diverse content of the service, the guide encouraged the BBC viewer to explore BBCi for themselves.

The guide itself was an interactive experience, divided into two distinct sections, 'WOW' and 'HOW', with a large tactile, embossed red button appearing through the die cut covers. When the reader had read 'WOW'; the showcase for BBCi content, the guide could simply be inverted to reveal 'HOW'; a simple, step-by-step exploration of the service.

Copy was kept short and succinct giving the pack an overall feeling of simplicity and ease. But, equally informative, just like the red button service itself. The layout featured screen grabs and simple, hand drawn, line illustrations to avoid an overly 'techie' feel. The BBCi logo colours, red and black, were used throughout re-inforcing the brand identity.
