Mackintosh Festival

Generating an additional 150,000 visitors to Glasgow was no mean task. But when the main attraction was the world renowned legacy of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his contemporaries, we knew were off to a good start!

The University of Glasgow asked us to create the brand identity which was applied to posters, flyers, press packs, programmes, event website and outdoor media. The stylised monogram and vibrant Mackintosh inspired colour palette gave the festival a unique and instantly recognisable look.

The festival was hailed as one of Scotland's cultural highlights that year and attracted over 630,000 visits to festival events as well as a record-breaking crowd of moustache-clad Mackintosh lookalikes to George Square. Mackintosh was the only designer name in the windows of Frasers during the month of September when 1.2 million passers by saw our contemporary take on his work.

So, did our branding do the trick? The DBA thought so and gave us an award for design effectiveness in Oct 2007. The brand has also been adopted as a legacy brand mark for Glasgow Mackintosh and be used for years to come.
