Why St John Ambulance were glad they called 999!

Incredibly, less than one in five of us knows basic first aid. That’s even more startling when you consider that the majority of Norwegians do know first aid and feel prepared to help save a life.

St John Ambulance is the nation’s leading first aid charity, working to help save more lives through the work they do. Training both the public and its own volunteers who provide first aid in their communities, keeping people safe at events, and working alongside the NHS in response to 999 calls.

So when they called ‘999’ and asked us to develop and design an initial training presentation to help motivate the internal and external fundraising teams, we were naturally thrilled to help.

Following a restructure and with a singular, national focus on how the charity raises funds, we were tasked with creating a more informative and engaging presentation.

We worked closely with the team to understand firsthand how St John Ambulance works to meet key objectives and save more lives. It was clear that people should be the focus of our creative and communications for a more emotional and relevant audience connection.

We put real people’s stories and the charity’s heritage at the heart of the presentation, helping to bring to life St John Ambulance team’s good work.

Our presentation helps to showcase how funds raised help in real terms (for example £6,000 pays for a fully equipped bike for the Cycle Response Unit), highlights the charity’s awards which recognise life savers and supporters, and looks back at the scale of reach and first aid awareness achieved across schools and community groups.

Following the great feedback we’ve had so far, we look forward to supporting St John Ambulance further on their mission to raise money, help save lives and be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.

999 Design were brilliant in helping us to create a really engaging and interactive presentation which has been so well received that our fundraising team is now using it to help recruit new volunteers and donors on the go.
